I call them elementals because they are elemental to us all. Everyone has these things built-in.
1. Using the power of Dreams and Visions to create your intent.
Dreams and visions provide the most powerful information. Those things you dream of or see in happy visions are the things you most want, that you have the most passion for. This allows you to start off from the best possible place.
2. Using Clarity and Guidance to decide on your actions.
You use clarity to listen for Guidance. Clarity comes in between the breaths, in the silence, opening the portals for Guidance. Clarity can come into play after the Guidance, as well. It gives your steps surety and the clear eye to see what lies ahead.
3. Using Discipline and Choice to fuel those actions.
Actions need choice. You won’t do anything without choice. Discipline helps you to continue to make the choices. Discipline keeps you coming back to what you’ve chosen.
4. Using Openness and Acceptance to allow what comes.
Life doesn’t always move in a straight line. You have to be open to what comes to you. You many not yet see how it applies to your Intent. Accept what you get.
5. Using Gratitude and Flexibility to listen for your next move.
Having gratitude for what you created expands and shapes it. It also put you in mind to be flexible if the Guidance should take you in a new direction.
If you use these elementals you will find life happens easily, almost effortlessly.
I am often in awe of people like the Spinal Tap gang – Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, and Christopher Guest. How wonderful their lives must be!
They have the money and clout to manifest their creative visions.
It’s their work, so they have plenty of time, resources and tax deductions to do it.
It’s their passion, what they love to do. So they do it happily, joyfully giving their best attention and care to every bit of it. Producing something really good.
No doubt, it helps them to feel creatively satisfied. How brilliant it must be seeing your dreams manifested! What that must do to refuel your juices.
They are able to share their visions and passions with others. They touch and uplift lots of lives with their talents.
And they get paid really well for it!
So they can turn around and do it again.

May I tell you the story I saw unfold in the 2010 Alice in Wonderland movie? Now, if I read the book, it was too many years ago to remember. I consider myself a bit of an expert on movies, but when it comes to anything at all that Johnny Depp is in, I tend to lean in the direction of loving it. (Even if it’s not my kind of movie.) I loved this movie. It was beautiful to behold. And the technology was astounding. Johnny was flawless as the Mad Hatter and Mia Wasikowska as Alice brought a fresh muchness to the role. Everyone was spectacular. It was an enjoyable movie.
But let me tell you what I heard ~
“All the best people are mad,” young Alice’s father tells her after a bad dream. “Don’t be frightened. No one can hurt you there.” 13 years later, she continues to have the same dream, but now she is off to a garden party and is not properly dressed. Who says? Alice wants to know. Like many of us, she wonders if she’s normal. She can smile even if she doesn’t wear a corset and stockings. And she can dance the appropriate dances. She fits in.
Her father was known as a man of vision. But that is not necessarily an admirable quality in Alice’s world. When Alice chuckles at a vision she has of the boys dancing in dresses and the girls dancing in pants, her boyfriend scoffs and says, “Keep your visions to yourself. When in doubt, remain silent.” He wonders why she would spend her time thinking about impossible things. Alice retorts that her recently departed father believed in doing 6 impossible things before breakfast.
It’s no wonder that the easily distractable Alice follows the funny-looking rabbit with the waistcoat on. In doing so she sees things, sees through the illusions of the people in her life. Then she falls down a hole, just like in her dream.
She does what needs to be done in the present moment. She tries things. She tells herself it’s only a dream, so why not? She is brave because she knows no one can hurt her. The question in Underland (or “Wonderland” as she calls it) is “Who are you?” Isn’t that what we all must discover?
Alice is used to dreaming and being a dreamer. So she takes all this strangeness in stride. She moves forward, toward her destiny, though she doesn’t know what it is. She just keeps doing what she has to do and making choices in the moment.
The Mad Hatter tells her she’s “lost her muchness.” Alice doesn’t know what that is, but she’s darn sure she still has her muchness and she’s going to prove it! But she balks that, in Underland (as it is on the surface) everyone tells her what she must do and who she must be. “I make the path!” she shouts. “I decide where it will go from here.” She’s going to decide who she is. She doesn’t feel right letting anyone else tell her what she thinks or what she should do.
Alice moves along with confidence that it’s a dream, but also that she makes her own reality. She has a level of comfort because, though this all looks very odd, it is somehow familiar to her. She has been here before. There is an ease about her that allows her to make good choices, or turn and make another if it’s not the right one.
In the final showdown with the Jabberwocky, she agrees to fight for what she thinks is right. She makes mistakes in the battle, but she keeps on going. She lists for herself 6 impossible things: A caterpillar that talks, a cat that flies, etc. Her 6th impossible thing is that she defeats the Jabberwocky. And that’s exactly what she does.
Now, she is ready to face the people in the “real” world. She is ready for anything. Her journey through Underland showed her what she’s made of and that what she thinks and feels is real and important.
I can only hope to be more like Alice in Wonderland.

She has been writing and teaching about manifesting dreams for many years. Some of her other books are, “Making Your Dreams Come True” and “Life is But a Dream.” I read “Making Your Dreams Come True” years ago. And loved it.
“Ease” Marcia says, “is about effortlessly accessing and shifting energy.” Of course, the most powerful step you can take is to be more aware of yourself and your feelings. She stresses the importance of taking good care of yourself, too.
She has an unusual take on using your will. I’ve already talked about it in a previous blog and may well delve into it again, at another time. It’s about, I believe, generating your passion, accepting what is and then the will follows, easily and effortlessly.
The book is full of numbered lists like “10 Ways To Make Life More Difficult.” The exercises are stacked with thoughtful questions to answer. It’s an easy read with her humor and deep belief in making your dreams come true.
Speaking of beliefs, she talks at length about dealing with limiting beliefs that are often in the way of manifesting what you want. Our beliefs and the consequential feelings from them create our thoughts and help or impede our progress.
Her Passion Pyramid, starting from a firm foundation of your Purpose, moves into making that purpose into an exciting Dream, creating Projects to make that dream happen and then, finally, Scheduling it into your life.
She talks a lot about creating a dream that you are more committed to than your current reality. She acknowledges that the road can be rough. “As you connect with your purpose and passion, old programming surfaces. As you start to feel your dreams and desires, your limiting beliefs will show up. And as you start to act on what you truly want, reality will test you.” You need to be clear about what you want and use passion for your dream to keep you moving toward it.
Marcia offers lots of fun tools like the “Completion Corner” which helps us find solutions to obstacles. Her essential theory on Obstacles: “Whenever there is an obstacle, design a strategy to manage it.” In the Completion Corner we learn tactics for doing that. I like the “Ease Meter” where you decide on a set of criteria for helping to decide if a project is worth taking on or not by how much ease and passion it could bring.
The #1 way to get more ease, according to Marcia, is to build what she calls an “Ease Team.” Everyone talks about getting support from others. Dreams never come true from one person’s effort only. “The greatest magic happens when we share our dreams with others.” I love that!

Marcia Wieder is the Dream expert. Making dreams come true is her specialty. Here are a few exercises from her book “Doing Less and Having More.”
Write out your dream. What would you do? Where? With whom? What would you create or accomplish? What does doing less and having more look like for you?
This really is the first step. If you don’t know where you’re going, how will you ever figure out how to get there? The more clear you are on the answers to these questions, the more likely you are to reach your dream.
Then, Marcia adds a second piece: Write out your current reality in relation to your dream.
She tells us that fears come from our reality, not our dream. We can’t feel in the future. Isn’t that an interesting concept? Of course, it’s true, but not something you regularly think about. The key here is to think about which one we are more committed to. Our current reality or our dream?
Most of what keeps us from moving ahead are our limiting beliefs. Marcia wants us to write down a Limiting Belief we have. One belief that keep us from having the life of ease we want. One short, concise statement. Like, “Women who are successful are hard.” Then, write its opposite: “Women can be successful and still be gentle.”
From that write a positive and empowering phrase that if you believed, it would make it easier for you to have what you want. Try to make it something simple to remember that you can repeat like a mantra. Like, “I can be successful and still be a woman.” Act as though you believe the new thought. Act on it. Try to do something every day to show that you do.
I find that many times what holds me back are the things I haven’t finished yet. They draw energy and time from what I really want to do. Marcia calls this the “Completion Corner.” She says this, “Complete what you start even if that means deciding not to do it anymore.”
1) Write what you feel incomplete about with anyone or anything. Anything that feels unsettled. Something you think about a lot or worry about. Does it affect other areas?
2) Write down what is incomplete or what happened, what’s missing for each item.
3) Next to each item write what needs to be done to complete it or close it off.
“As I complete the old, I am free to create the new.”
It’s also important to know what you need to keep going. Here is one way to do that: Describe your typical day. Then what you would consider an ideal day. What is your prime time? When are you up? When are you down? Do what you love when you love to do it. I find that it’s much easier for me to learn something new in the morning when my mind is fresh and well-rested. It’s taken me a long time to figure out the best time to meditate, too. I fall asleep if I do it too early in the morning and I’m too distracted and my thoughts are up too high in the afternoon. I like to write in the mornings when it’s quieter in the house and my mind is not so engaged. I like to hear what others have to say in the afternoon.
Ask of everything – Will this make my life easier? If you take steps that make you feel joyful every day, you’re going to create a dream life.
In my continuing adventure of writing about personal growth exercises, this week’s exercise is from Marcia Wieder’s “Making Your Dreams come True.” Marcia is THE Dream Expert. This exercise is about making a commitment to your dream.
You are to stand at the door, your face pressed against it, close enough to breathe on it and fog up a space. Then, wipe it. See a view of your life when your dream comes true. Really take it in. All the sights, sounds, smells. Sense the feelings you will have. Now, do you want to go for it? Is it worth you making a commitment? If you really, really want it, open the door and take a step out into it. Trust that all will be well.
Marcia has a passion scale that goes like this: Red Hot / Turned On / Excited / Very Interested / Interested / Some Possibility / No Interest. She’d like us to gauge everything we do on this scale. When you’ve taken the step out of the door and into your dream, see how it feels on this scale.
I had an interesting experience doing this many years ago. I went bravely out the door, certain it was what I wanted. As I did, I noticed a magnificent house ahead. I knew the house well. I approached it, but as I got to the second door, I couldn’t go through it. I felt it was my house, but that somehow I couldn’t live there. That someone else still owned the house. I’m not sure what that meant.
But I do know that often we think we want something, but when it comes to actually doing it, we’re not so sure. I watched a bit of the television show, “Last Restaurant Standing.” Everyone seems to want a “Top Chef” type of show. Anyway, there was a mom and son who wanted to open a restaurant. (I believe the premise is several couples compete for the money to open their dream restaurant.) But they weren’t clear about what kind of restaurant they wanted. I suspect there are a lot of people who just think it would be fun. But when they realize in order to do it, they have to keep the books and order the food and design a menu and please customers . . . Well, it just doesn’t seem like so much fun, anymore.
Being committed to your dream is essential. If you’re not willing to walk through that door, to embrace the life you dream of, it will forever remain out of your grasp. It takes commitment. Some days are better than others. The commitment keeps you in the game. If you have that deep commitment then whatever you have to do to get there becomes more fun and exciting. No, I don’t know how to keep the books for my restaurant, but I am willing to learn and try because I’m so committed to making great food for others.
Sure would be great if everything you did made you feel, at least, excited. Really turned on and at times red hot would be an amazing way to live! I have to admit that I feel excited and turned on about my commitment. But when it gets to Red Hot, I get a little afraid and back down. This year, I want to embrace the heat, easily and with tons of fun!
1) Heat. There’s nothing quite like the heat of knowing that someone else is going to notice if you don’t do something. Moving ahead on your dreams requires a whole lot of baby steps that are often barely acknowledged. Having even one other person who will know creates a fire under everything you do.
2) Structure. If someone is holding you accountable, you better be able to say what it is you’re going to do. This forces you to be clear on what it is you’re going to accomplish.
3) Help. I believe that we are not meant to do things alone. It always helps to have an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, or a hand to help you up when you slip.
4) Support. Every job becomes easier when you know they’ll be applause or acknowledgment on the other side. A cheer now and again smooths the way to do more.
5) Resources. When you’re working and sharing with others, you open yourself up for ideas, suggestions, advice, connections and all kinds of tools.
A wonderful way to create accountability is to join Libby Gill’s Accountability Club. On each monthly call she brings in one of the latest and greatest thinkers and practitioners in the field of creating the life you want to share tips and techniques. After that, everyone in the club is invited to talk about his or her Milestone for the month. These are goals which are a stretch, may be out of your immediate control to make happen. Then, the participants share what Libby calls “Game Changer Goals.” These are the feet-to-the-fire steps that you can take to move toward that Milestone. Throughout this process, Libby offers her formidable coaching skills. It’s inspiring to hear how others are working to hold to their commitments. Each story provides insights and new tools.
